Who is Hemant Rohera?

Hemant K. Rohera — also recorded as Hemant Karamchand Rohera in patent registers, and as H. K. Rohera — is an independent inventor and engineer in Pune, Maharashtra, India, with more than twenty-nine years in research and development across bioelectronics, energy storage and automotive power systems. He is the founder of Rohera Healthcare & Technology Private Limited (the eMedica device), Rohera Emerging Energies Private Limited (the Hybrid Power Pack) and Rohera Industries (OPC) Private Limited (OMNIA Drive). What are the three patent families?

Medical therapeutic device (eMedica). A non-invasive bioelectronic device that generates controlled voltage, current and frequency waveforms, used as an adjuvant alongside prescribed medical treatment under medical supervision. Grants in force in the United States (US 12,226,183 B2), Japan (JP 7611901 B2), South Korea (KR 10-2954775), Australia (AU 2020346420 B2), Canada (CA 3150348), Saudi Arabia (SA 18122) and South Africa (ZA 2022/04073 B). Priority 10 September 2019.

Hybrid Power Pack. A dual-storage architecture pairing supercapacitors with batteries so that peak current is served by the capacitor rather than the cell, cutting internal heating and narrowing the depth-of-discharge excursion. Grants in force in India (IN 301517), the United States (US 10,523,019 B2), Europe (EP 3 320 595 B1, validated in Germany, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), Japan (JP 6644883), Canada (CA 2,991,527 C), Mexico (MX 377263 B) and Vietnam (VN 40455). Priority 10 July 2015; term to 2035.

Power generating system and method for a vehicle (OMNIA Drive). A multi-source architecture conditioning multiple on-board generator sources through a single power processing unit. Grants in force in India (IN 477613), the United States (US 11,117,476 B2) and Japan (JP 7,109,623). Priority 25 September 2015.

Are the patents granted, or applications?

All of the grants named above are granted and in force, each verifiable against the national register named. Family members that were granted but are no longer maintained, and applications that were not pursued, are deliberately excluded from this list and are never presented as protection. Applications still under examination — including the European application in the eMedica family — are described as under examination, not as grants.

Who owns the patents?

The individual inventor. They are not assigned to any company. For a counterparty this simplifies matters considerably: there is no cap table, no board and no co-owner sitting between an offer and a signature.

What regulatory status does the eMedica device hold?

It is manufactured under manufacturing licence MFG/MD/2023/000926 (Form MD-5), device Class A, granted in India under the Medical Devices Rules, 2017, the framework administered by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation, and issued by the Food & Drug Administration, Maharashtra, within an ISO 13485:2016 quality management system, and electrical safety tested to IEC 60601-1 at a NABL-accredited laboratory. It holds no United States Food and Drug Administration clearance or approval, and it is not CE marked — no EU Notified Body certificate exists for this device.

Is eMedica a treatment or a cure?

Neither. It is an adjuvant device intended for use alongside prescribed medical treatment, under medical supervision, and never instead of it. What independent testing exists on the Hybrid Power Pack?

Two evaluations, and both are test reports rather than certifications. The Central Institute of Road Transport, Pune, tested Model HPP35A and recorded 10,000 cycles at 60 °C (report No. B34000, 20 March 2020). DRDO's Research & Development Establishment (Engineers), Pune, issued environmental test report No. 020623ESG/ETF on 21 June 2023, running the pack at +70 °C at a sustained 450 A. Both are single-configuration endurance and environmental evaluations, not comparative benchmarks. Neither institute has certified, approved, endorsed or procured the product.

Is the portfolio available for licensing?

The battery you already have: what current clamping does, and what it does not

Most conversations about extending battery life start with the cell. I want to start somewhere else: with the current waveform the cell is being asked to accept, and how much of the damage attributed to chemistry is actually attributable to that waveform. This is the engineering case behind the Hybrid Power Pack patents. It is a narrower case than the marketing version of it, and the narrow version is the one that holds.
